Allergic rhinitis decisions — 2015

The Board has granted an initial 30 percent disability rating for sinusitis with allergic rhinitis, effective from the date of the decision.

The Veteran's claims of service connection for various conditions were denied, with the exception of PTSD which was granted and assigned a 30% disability rating.

The Veteran's service-connected allergic rhinitis is currently rated at 10 percent, and the Board finds that a higher rating is not warranted for any portion of the appeal period.

The Veteran's plantar fasciitis has been rated at 10 percent for each foot prior to July 9, 2014, and increased to 50 percent thereafter.

The Veteran's appeal is being remanded to allow for a Travel Board hearing at the RO, and further development of his claims.

The Board has determined that the Veteran's current allergic rhinitis is related to service and grants service connection for this condition. The issue of prostate disability remains pending.

The Veteran's claim for special monthly pension based on the need for aid and attendance or being housebound is REMANDED due to a lack of recent VA examination and treatment records, as well as potential need for additional rating assignments.

The Veteran's appeal is being remanded to the AOJ for additional development, including consideration of National Guard records and a VA examination. The issues are service connection for rhinitis with turbinate hyperplasia, deviated nasal septum (secondary to rhinitis), and sleep apnea.

The Veteran's sinusitis and rhinitis were rated at 30 percent prior to November 17, 2009, and the Board found this rating appropriate. Since then, a higher rating is not warranted.
