Ankle decisions — 2004

The Board has granted service connection for residuals of a calcaneus fracture of the right ankle with malunion and subtalar arthritis, but denied an increased rating. The veteran is entitled to a 10 percent disability evaluation since June 13, 2001.

The veteran's appeal is for a higher rating for his service-connected left ankle disability, which was previously granted with a noncompensable rating. The RO has requested additional medical records and will review the claim again after obtaining these records.

The Board has ordered further development due to pending issues regarding the veteran's increased disability rating for his left foot and ankle conditions. The case is now remanded for additional evidence collection.

The veteran's service-connected right ankle disability is being remanded for further development, including a VA examination to determine the current severity of his condition. The claim will be reviewed again after this additional evidence has been considered.

The Board has determined that the veteran's PTSD is service-connected, and his right ankle condition was also found to be service-connected based on direct evidence. The effective date for these determinations is not specified.
