Ankle Board decisions

The Veteran's claims for service connection for right hip and ankle disorders have been granted, with a rating of 10% each. The effective date is not specified.

The Veteran's left ear hearing loss is service connected. The Board has remanded the issues of service connection for bilateral ankle, knee, shoulder, and lumbar spine disabilities.

The Veteran's PFB with consequent scarring is currently rated at 50 percent, which does not meet the criteria for a higher rating.,The Veteran's left ankle disability is currently rated at 10 percent. The Board finds that the evidence does not support an increase to a higher rating due to marked limitation of motion.,The Veteran's right fourth finger disability is currently rated as noncompensable, and there is no evidence provided in the record suggesting it warrants a compensable rating.

The Veteran's right ankle disability is currently rated at 20 percent, effective from November 29, 2011. The Board found that the Veteran experienced marked ankle disability prior to this date.

The Veteran's bilateral knee disability is found to be secondary to his service-connected bilateral pes planus and/or low back strain, and thus granted service connection for this condition.

The Board has ordered additional development due to the inadequacy of a previous VA examination. The Veteran's right hip and bilateral ankle conditions are being evaluated again with an aim towards determining their etiology.

The Veteran's claims for residuals of a fracture of the right great toe and right ankle disorder, as well as his claim for service connection for headaches (residuals of head injury) were denied. The Board found no evidence of current disabilities related to these conditions.

The Board found that the Veteran's current left ankle DJD is not related to his in-service injury and denied service connection for a left ankle disability.

The Veteran's service-connected disabilities do not prevent him from obtaining and maintaining substantially gainful employment.

The Veteran's service-connected disabilities are shown to be of such severity so as to preclude substantially gainful employment consistent with his education and experience, effective October 16, 2013.
