Ankle Board decisions

The Board has determined that additional VA examinations are needed to properly evaluate the Veteran's service-connected right ankle, left shoulder, and left radial nerve disabilities. The issues of increased evaluations for these conditions have been remanded.

The Board has denied the Veteran's claims for service connection for a right leg disability other than right hip arthritis, right knee arthritis, right ankle arthritis, right foot arthritis, right thigh shrapnel injury, and right thigh scars due to a shrapnel injury. The claim for PVD of the left leg is remanded.

The Veteran's right ankle Achilles tendonitis was evaluated under DC 5271, which applies to limitation of motion of the ankle. The Board denied a rating in excess of 20 percent for this period.,Since August 1, 2012, the Veteran has been rated at 40 percent for right ankle Achilles tendonitis due to complete paralysis of the external popliteal nerve and foot drop.
