PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) decisions — 2022

The Veteran's PTSD is rated at 70 percent effective August 30, 2017. He is granted TDIU and SMC based on housebound status, both effective August 30, 2017.

The Veteran's PTSD has been rated at 50% since March 11, 2015. The Board found that an initial 70% rating is warranted for the service-connected PTSD due to occupational and social impairment with deficiencies in most areas. The case of service connection for obstructive sleep apnea secondary to PTSD and entitlement to a compensable rating for headaches are both remanded.

The Veteran's PTSD was rated at 70 percent prior to June 1, 2016. The Board denied an increased rating for PTSD.

The VA denied the Veteran's appeal because his Form 9, which he filed in response to a January 2016 rating decision, was not timely or properly accepted. The Veteran is seeking service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder, including PTSD, which she claims was caused by a sexual assault during her Air Force Reserve service.

The Veteran's service-connected disabilities render him unable to secure or maintain substantially gainful employment, and the Board has granted a TDIU effective January 25, 2016.
