PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) decisions — 2022

The Veteran's PTSD with anxiety, adjustment disorder, and depression is rated at 70 percent since August 7, 2020. Service connection for right knee degenerative arthritis and left knee degenerative arthritis was denied.

The Board has remanded the Veteran's claims for an increased rating for PTSD, a TDIU rating based on his service-connected psychiatric disorders alone, and SMC based on a total plus 60 percent disability rating due to outstanding VA treatment records and private medical records. The Veteran is also required to attend a VA examination to determine the current severity of his service-connected psychiatric disorders.

The Veteran's PTSD is rated at 70 percent since August 4, 2021. The Board also granted TDIU from February 20, 2015 to August 4, 2021.

The Board has remanded the claims for service connection due to unresolved issues regarding the character of discharge and new evidence. The low back disability claim is also being remanded.

The Veteran's PTSD is rated at 50 percent since February 15, 2017. A rating in excess of 30 percent for PTSD prior to that date was denied.
