PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) decisions — 2023

The Veteran's migraine headaches are granted a higher rating of 50% from April 27, 2019 to October 21, 2019. Other conditions have been granted service connection with effective dates ranging from January 11, 2012 to October 21, 2019.

The Veteran's peripheral neuropathy of the left and right upper extremities, PTSD, left knee condition, and right knee condition are all granted service connection.,Service connection for COPD is remanded due to insufficient evidence.

The Board has remanded the case due to the need for additional VA treatment records, particularly related to the Veteran's acquired psychiatric conditions.

The Veteran's PTSD is granted at a 70% rating from September 30, 2021 until February 7, 2022. Service connection for hypertension, chronic rhinitis, and chronic sinusitis are granted beginning August 10, 2022 due to the PACT Act. Service connection for GERD is remanded.

The Board has granted a 70 percent disability rating for the Veteran's service-connected PTSD and GAD, finding that the evidence shows deficiencies in most areas of the Veteran's life due to these conditions.

The Board denied the Veteran's claim for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) due to insufficient evidence showing he was unable to secure and follow substantially gainful employment due to his service-connected disabilities.

The Board has granted a 10 percent rating for the Veteran's right great ingrown toenail. The remaining issues, including service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder and other disabilities, are remanded due to new evidence.

The Veteran's claim for a total rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) prior to July 11, 2019 is denied because the evidence shows she was employed full-time during that period.

The Veteran's PTSD with alcohol use disorder in sustained remission and residuals of TBI are granted at a 70 percent evaluation effective from January 23, 2023. The issue of entitlement to an increased evaluation for sinus headaches is denied. The Veteran is also granted TDIU prior to January 7, 2020.

The Board has remanded the Veteran's claims for left knee osteoarthritis and patellofemoral pain syndrome, as well as his claim for service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder (PTSD). The Veteran is required to undergo further examination and provide additional information regarding stressors related to PTSD.

The Veteran's PTSD was granted an increased rating to 50 percent effective December 19, 2022. The Board also remanded the TDIU claim.

The Board has granted a 50% rating for the Veteran's headache disability, effective from November 2, 2015 to February 5, 2020. The claims for PTSD and meningitis were denied as there is no current diagnosis of these conditions.

The Veteran's PTSD with unspecified depressive disorder was found to have more nearly approximated a 50 percent disability rating prior to April 2, 2022. The Board denied an initial disability rating in excess of 50 percent for PTSD.

The Veteran's PTSD caused total occupational and social impairment from April 27, 2016 to July 6, 2016. He was granted a 100% disability rating for this period.

The Board has reopened the claim for service connection for PTSD and remanded it for further development, including an addendum opinion from a VA examiner.
