PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) decisions — 2024

The Veteran's service connection claim for a back condition is denied, and his PTSD rating is granted at 50 percent effective from December 13, 2018. The Board found that the evidence did not support a higher rating for PTSD.

The Board has remanded the Veteran's claims for hypertension, pacemaker, PTSD, and sleep apnea as there was a pre-decisional error in not obtaining his personnel records. The claims are also remanded to obtain VA examinations to determine if these conditions are related to service.

The Board has granted an effective date of December 15, 2018 for the award of a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) due to PTSD. The Veteran's income was above the poverty threshold levels and he did not work in a protected environment before this decision.
