PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) decisions — 2026

The Board has denied service connection for neck and right shoulder disabilities, but has remanded the claims for a back disability and an acquired psychiatric disability.

The Board has denied the Veteran's claims for service connection for PTSD, left lower extremity peripheral neuropathy, right lower extremity peripheral neuropathy, and tinnitus. The Board found no current diagnosis of these conditions in the record, except for a finding of left lumbar radiculopathy (sciatic), which was granted based on direct service connection due to an in-service back injury.

The Veteran's PTSD and major depressive disorder are granted as service connection is established due to an in-service personal assault.

The Veteran's claim for payment or reimbursement of the cost of ambulance services provided by Leicester Volunteer Fire Department on December 26, 2021 is being remanded. The VA has determined that the ambulance transport was authorized under beneficiary travel rules and should be reviewed again to determine if it can be granted under 38 U.S.C. § 1725 or other applicable laws.

The Board has granted service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder, including PTSD, depression, and anxiety, prior to November 4, 2024. The decision is based on the Veteran's reports of a sexual assault during service and her current diagnosis related to this event.

The Board has granted service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder, including PTSD and other specified trauma related disorders, as these conditions are found to be directly related to the Veteran's active service.
