PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) Board decisions

The Veteran's PTSD with schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type and generalized anxiety disorder is granted a 100% rating for the period prior to October 3, 2022. For the period beginning on October 3, 2022, he is in receipt of the maximum schedular rating. He also receives special monthly compensation based upon housebound status.

The Veteran's claim for service connection for PTSD is granted. The Board also remanded the claims for service connection for right knee, left knee, left heel, and right heel conditions.

The Veteran's claim for an initial 70 percent disability rating for PTSD, as well as his TDIU claim due to service-connected PTSD, have been granted.

The Veteran's service-connected PTSD and tinnitus disabilities prevent him from securing or maintaining a substantially gainful occupation.

The Veteran's claim for an increased rating for her service-connected PTSD with depression and anxiety was denied in the June 2022 rating decision. The Board has now remanded the case due to a duty-to-assist error.

The Board dismissed the Veteran's appeals on earlier effective dates for service connection for bilateral hearing loss, sleep apnea, an upper right arm burn scar, and tinnitus. The claims for initial compensable ratings for PTSD and tension headaches were not addressed as they remained in appellate status.

The Veteran's appeal is remanded for a determination on the issues of entitlement to higher ratings for PTSD and service connection for diabetes and CKD, NPDR, and diabetic peripheral neuropathy secondary to diabetes.

The Board has denied the Veteran's claims for service connection for various conditions, including an acquired psychiatric disorder, sinusitis, rhinitis, prostate condition, sleep apnea, vertigo, hypertension, back condition, shoulder conditions, elbow conditions, wrist conditions, hip conditions, knee conditions, and ankle/foot conditions. The reasons provided are that the evidence does not support a nexus between these conditions and service or any other relevant factors.

The Veteran's appeals for various service connection claims have been dismissed due to his death while the appeal was pending.

The Veteran's appeals regarding the reduction of patellofemoral pain syndrome with tendonitis, right knee, limitation of flexion from 10 percent to 0 percent and for an evaluation in excess of 50 percent for posttraumatic stress disorder have been dismissed due to a withdrawal by the appellant.

The Board has granted an earlier effective date of May 30, 2023 for the award of service connection for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Head Injury. The Veteran's claim was continuously pursued since this date.

The Veteran's asthma was granted an initial rating of 10 percent prior to June 12, 2024. The appeal for a higher rating is denied. The Veteran's degenerative joint disease (left knee) and right knee are each rated at 10 percent. The Veteran's PTSD is rated at 50 percent. TDIU based solely on service-connected PTSD is granted.

The Veteran's claim for a higher rating for PTSD and Adjustment Disorder with Mixed and Depressed Mood, Persistent, Chronic is remanded due to conflicting evidence of record. A new VA examination is required to determine the severity of his service-connected conditions.

The Board has granted a higher rating for the Veteran's PTSD and awarded TDIU, both effective July 26, 2023. The Appellant is eligible to attorney fees based on past-due benefits awarded in the March 2024 rating decision.

The April 1988 rating decision denying service connection for PTSD was found to be clearly and unmistakably erroneous, resulting in a grant of service connection for PTSD.

The Veteran's sleep apnea is being remanded for further evaluation due to insufficient opinions regarding its relationship to his service-connected disabilities and obesity.

The Veteran's service-connected PTSD, along with other disabilities, has rendered them unable to secure and follow a substantially gainful occupation. The Board granted the TDIU rating based on this condition.

The Veteran's claim for an earlier effective date of January 16, 2007 for the award of service connection for PTSD is granted. The issues regarding Dependents' Educational Assistance and SMC based on need for aid and attendance are remanded.

The Board has granted service connection for PTSD, finding that the Veteran's current diagnosis is due to in-service military sexual trauma. Service connection was denied for Major Depressive Disorder.

The Veteran's GERD and PTSD with MDD and GAD are granted. The Veteran is assigned a 100% disability rating for his PTSD, effective June 1, 2018. The issue of entitlement to TDIU is dismissed as moot.
