PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) Board decisions

The Veteran's service-connected PTSD, tinnitus, and deviated septum disabilities have rendered him unable to secure or maintain substantially gainful employment since January 17, 2014. The Board has granted a TDIU effective that date.

The Veteran's PTSD with alcohol use disorder is currently rated at 70 percent, and the Board finds that he does not meet the criteria for a higher rating.,Right knee patellofemoral pain syndrome and tendonitis are remanded for further evaluation.

The Veteran's PTSD resulted in significant impairment, warranting a 70% rating from January 30, 2014 to June 24, 2015. Migraine headaches were rated at 30% from May 27, 2016 to January 14, 2021 and 50% thereafter due to very frequent attacks causing severe economic inadaptability.

The Veteran's claim for an earlier effective date of July 29, 2016 for service connection for PTSD is denied. The Board found that the January 2015 rating decision denying service connection was final and no new or material evidence had been submitted within a year.

The Veteran's claim for service connection for loss of teeth, for treatment purposes, is being remanded due to the need for additional medical examination. The claim for PTSD remains denied.,New and material evidence has been received to reopen the Veteran's claims for service connection for PTSD.

The Veteran's PTSD with TBI is currently rated at 50 percent, effective August 21, 2014.

The Veteran's service-connected disabilities, including PTSD, Tinnitus, and Right Ear Hearing Loss, render him unemployable. The Board finds that the criteria for a Total Disability Rating Based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU) have been met.

The Board has granted a TDIU rating for PTSD effective February 2, 2012. The appeal is dismissed as the issue has been fully resolved.

The Board has remanded the cases for further development and opinion regarding service connection due to lack of current diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, type 2. The issues of service connection for Parkinson's disease and an acquired psychiatric disability (to include PTSD) are also remanded.

The Veteran's claim for an earlier effective date for service connection of PTSD was denied. The Board found no clear and unmistakable error (CUE) in the November 2008 rating decision, as the correct facts were known at that time and the statutory provisions were correctly applied.
