PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) Board decisions

The Board has remanded the Veteran's claims of service connection for sleep apnea and TDIU due to PTSD. The decision on one issue would have a significant impact upon another, making them inextricably intertwined.

The Veteran's PTSD is rated at 70 percent since April 4, 2017. The TDIU rating is also granted on the same date.

The Veteran is granted a TDIU rating from August 15, 2017 due to service-connected PTSD. The issue of entitlement to a TDIU prior to this date is remanded for further review.

The Veteran's PTSD symptoms have been found to warrant a 70 percent disability rating, reflecting significant impairment in occupational and social functioning.

The Veteran's PTSD is being remanded for further development, including obtaining updated treatment records and scheduling the Veteran for a VA examination to assess the current severity of his service-connected condition.

The Veteran's claim for service connection for PTSD, OSA, and TDIU has been granted with effective dates of February 28, 2011. The issue of earlier effective date for the grant of a TDIU is remanded due to the grant of an earlier effective date for the grant of service connection for PTSD.

The Board denied service connection for the cause of the Veteran's death, finding that his service-connected disabilities did not contribute to or cause his drowning and heart conditions.

The Veteran's claim for an effective date prior to August 1, 1994, for service connection of PTSD was denied. The Board also granted a TDIU based on the Veteran's service-connected disabilities.

The Veteran's PTSD and other service-connected conditions have not met the criteria for specially adapted housing or a special home adaptation grant due to his overall disability picture, which does not meet the specific eligibility requirements.

The appeals involving the Veteran's claims for hearing loss, PTSD, and a bilateral foot skin disorder have been dismissed due to the Veteran's death.

The Veteran's acquired psychiatric disorder, including anxiety disorder, PTSD, and a chronic adjustment disorder, was granted an initial rating of 50 percent prior to September 15, 2016.

The Veteran's claim for service connection for a residual scar at the base of his nose was granted, with an effective date set based on the Board's decision.,The Veteran's claim for TDIU due to PTSD and other disabilities was also granted, subject to certain conditions.

The Veteran's PTSD is rated at 70 percent since October 31, 2014. The rating for prostate cancer and associated surgical scar is also granted.

The Board has granted service connection for PTSD. The cases of a back disability, left knee disorder, and right knee disorder are remanded due to the need for additional examinations and opinions.

The Veteran's claims for increased rating of low back strain, service connection for bilateral knee disability and acquired psychiatric disability are remanded due to failure to appear for VA examinations. A new examination is needed to determine the current severity of his service-connected low back strain, nature and etiology of any diagnosed right and/or left knee disabilities, and whether any acquired psychiatric conditions are related to service or service-connected disabilities.

The Board has already determined that the Veteran is entitled to a higher rating for PTSD since May 19, 2017. The appeal for an earlier effective date is dismissed.

The Veteran's PTSD is granted a 70% rating for the period prior to March 1, 2021. The claim for TDIU and service connection for hypertension, cervical spine disorder, left upper extremity disorders, right upper extremity disorders, left knee disorder, right knee disorder, and migraine headaches are all denied.

The Veteran's claims for service connection of PTSD, left-hand disorder, and back disorder are remanded due to incomplete development. The effective date for the grant of service connection for PTSD is fixed in accordance with the facts found, but shall not be earlier than May 30, 2012.

The Veteran's PTSD symptoms were more nearly approximated by a 50 percent rating prior to August 1, 2017. A higher rating was denied for the period before November 1, 2019.

The Veteran's PTSD is currently rated as 50 percent disabled prior to August 9, 2021, and 70 percent disabled thereafter. The Board found that an increased rating exceeding these percentages was not warranted during any period on appeal.
