PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) Board decisions

The Board has granted an effective date of March 14, 2012 for the assignment of a TDIU on an extraschedular basis. The Veteran was found to be unemployable due to his service-connected disabilities since March 14, 2012.

The Veteran's PTSD is rated at 70 percent effective, and GERD remains under review.

The Board denied service connection for PTSD as there was no verified stressor and the Veteran did not engage in combat.

The Board has remanded the case due to a lack of recent VA examination for PTSD. Additional treatment records and contact with the Veteran are needed.

The Board denied the Veteran's request for an earlier effective date of August 15, 1986 for his service connection for PTSD. The decision found that entitlement to this benefit did not arise prior to this date.

The Board denied the Veteran's claims for service connection for a psychiatric disorder, including PTSD and depression, as secondary to his service-connected back and left knee disabilities, and for a bilateral eye disability due to radiation exposure. The evidence did not support the presence of current diagnoses or a causal relationship with service.

The Board has remanded the claims for service connection due to incomplete records and the need to obtain additional information from the Veteran.

The Veteran's acquired psychiatric disorder, including PTSD and MDD, is granted service connection. His alcohol use disorder is also granted as secondary to his service-connected acquired psychiatric disorder.

The Board denied service connection for a skin disability, finding that the Veteran did not have evidence of a current skin condition related to his active military service. The appeal is remanded for further development regarding exposure to herbicides and other issues.,The Board remanded the issue of service connection for diabetes mellitus, type II, due to in-service exposure to herbicides. Further development is needed to determine if the Veteran was exposed to herbicide agents during his active military service.

The Board denied service-connection for PTSD and an anxiety disorder, finding no current diagnosis of PTSD during the appeal period and insufficient evidence linking the Veteran's anxiety to his military service.

The Veteran's PTSD is currently rated as 50 percent disabling prior to September 23, 2019 and 70 percent disabling from that date onwards. The Board denied an increased rating for PTSD.

The Veteran's service-connected PTSD is now rated at 70 percent disabling from May 22, 2019. His initial claim for increased evaluation and TDIU was granted prior to this date.

The Board has granted service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder, to include PTSD, and remanded the issue of entitlement to a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU).

The Board found that the Veteran's service-connected disabilities alone did not render him unable to secure and maintain substantially gainful employment prior to May 7, 2015.

The Veteran's PTSD is being remanded for a new VA examination to assess the current severity of her condition due to increased symptomatology reported at her hearing. She also needs to provide updated treatment records from private providers and VA facilities.

The Veteran's claim for a higher evaluation for bilateral hearing loss was denied, and his claim for an increased rating in excess of 70 percent for PTSD with depression was also denied.

The Board has decided to remand the case due to incomplete verification of stressors and need for an addendum opinion regarding the Veteran's depressive disorder.

The Veteran's PTSD is rated at 70 percent, effective May 18, 2017. The Board also granted a TDIU based on the Veteran’s service-connected PTSD.

The Board has remanded the Veteran's claims for additional development to obtain his service treatment records from July 2001 to December 2001, as these records are necessary to determine if new and material evidence has been submitted to reopen his service connection claims.

The Veteran's PTSD is rated at a 70 percent disability rating, effective December 9, 2019. The VA also granted the Veteran's request for TDIU based on his service-connected PTSD.
