Shoulder Board decisions

The Veteran's left shoulder osteoarthritis is currently rated at 30 percent, effective August 16, 2012. The Board found that the Veteran’s range of motion during flare-ups more nearly approximated a 30 percent disability rating.

The Veteran's right shoulder condition is granted service connection, and he is awarded a TDIU based on his service-connected disabilities.

The Board has remanded multiple issues including service connection for various conditions, as well as the rating and TDIU claims. The Veteran is required to provide additional medical records and undergo examinations.

The Board has remanded the cases of cervical spine spondylosis, right knee osteoarthritis, hypertension, and left shoulder and arm disability for further development. The Veteran's claims are not granted as there is no evidence linking these conditions to his active service.

The Veteran's left shoulder arthritis is currently rated at 10 percent, but the evidence does not support a higher rating. The Veteran’s service-connected diabetes mellitus is currently rated at 20 percent and there are no compensable complications.,Diabetes mellitus requires more than one daily injection of insulin, restricted diet, and regulation of activities (avoidance of strenuous occupational and recreational activities) with episodes of ketoacidosis or hypoglycemic reactions requiring at least three hospitalizations per year or weekly visits to a diabetic care provider.

The Board previously remanded the right shoulder disorder claim, but did not reevaluate it after a VA examination. The case is being sent back for proper consideration.

The Veteran's back disability is granted service connection. The initial rating for right shoulder labral tear prior to February 15, 2018, and the rating in excess of 20 percent after that date are both granted. Service connection for headaches is also granted.

The Veteran's right ear hearing loss is rated at 10 percent. The left shoulder disability and scars are being remanded for further examination and rating.

The Veteran's service-connected disabilities have rendered him so helpless as to require the regular aid and attendance of another person, warranting special monthly compensation based on the need for aid and attendance. The increased rating claims for traumatic arthritis of the lumbar spine and bursitis of the right shoulder are remanded.

The Board has remanded the Veteran's claims of service connection for bilateral hip and shoulder disabilities due to insufficient medical evidence. The case will be returned for further examination and opinion.

The Board has ordered the Veteran to undergo VA examinations for his service-connected depressive disorder, cervical spine disability, right shoulder disability, and headache disorder due to the lack of recent medical records and examination reports.

The Veteran's attorney has withdrawn the appeals for service connection for shoulder and neck disabilities, as well as a higher rating for mood disorder. The Board has dismissed these appeals.

The Veteran's appeal is remanded due to the need for additional development regarding her financial liability to the provider of emergency treatment.

The Board denied service connection for osteoarthritis of the right shoulder, status post arthroplasty and an acquired psychiatric disorder due to lack of evidence establishing a direct relationship between these conditions and service.

The Board has granted service connection for left shoulder disorder, back disorder, neck disorder, and left lower extremity radiculopathy. The conditions are related to a motor vehicle accident the Veteran sustained during his active duty.
