Sinusitis decisions — 2016

The Board denied service connection for the Veteran's claimed conditions, including as due to undiagnosed illness or other qualifying chronic disability.

The Board has determined that the Veteran does not have a diagnosed bilateral wrist disability. For sinusitis, the Board finds that there are three to six non-incapacitating episodes per year characterized by headaches, pain, and purulent discharge or crusting from November 2, 2007, to December 7, 2009, warranting a 10% rating. Prior to this period, the Veteran did not meet the criteria for any compensable rating.

The Veteran's service connection claim for sinusitis is granted as the evidence shows a chronic disability that first manifested during her active service and has continued since separation.

The Veteran's chronic sinusitis with headaches warrants a rating of 50 percent, the highest available under Diagnostic Code 8100 for migraine headaches. The Veteran does not meet criteria for higher ratings based on other diagnostic codes.

The Board has determined that the Veteran's respiratory disabilities, including sinusitis, rhinitis, and COPD, were not incurred in or aggravated by active service.
