Sleep apnea decisions — 2025

The Board granted an effective date of August 11, 2014 for the award of service connection for obstructive sleep apnea.

The Board granted service connection for chronic sinusitis on a direct basis, but denied service connection for sleep apnea as secondary to PTSD and diabetes mellitus, type II as secondary to PTSD.

The Board granted a 20 percent rating for the Veteran's service-connected lumbosacral strain with degenerative arthritis, IVDS, and thoracic spondylosis. The claim for service connection for a respiratory disorder, to include sinusitis and allergic rhinitis, was remanded.

The request for readjudication of the previously denied claim for service connection for right lower extremity radiculopathy is granted in part as it was fully resolved by a June 2025 rating decision.

The Board granted earlier effective dates for service connection, TDIU, Dependents' Educational Assistance eligibility, and special monthly compensation based on statutory housebound criteria.

The Board granted service connection for obstructive sleep apnea as secondary to posttraumatic stress disorder, with obesity as an intermediate step.

The Board granted service connection for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) based on evidence indicating the condition had onset during military service or was etiologically linked to symptoms observed during active military service.
