The Veteran's appeal is being remanded to the RO for additional development, including obtaining VA treatment records and Social Security Administration (SSA) records. A VA respiratory examination will also be arranged.
The Veteran died due to hypertensive cardiovascular disease. At the time of his death, he had service-connected conditions including major depressive disorder, degenerative joint disease of the right knee, chondromalacia of the left knee, and inactive pulmonary tuberculosis. The Board found that these conditions did not meet the criteria for DIC benefits under 38 U.S.C.A. § 1318.
