The Board granted an initial 30 percent evaluation for GERD for the period prior to July 17, 2024.
The deciding factor: The Veteran's symptoms of pyrosis, reflux, regurgitation, sleep disturbance, nausea, vomiting, and substernal pain were found to be productive of considerable impairment of health under the old criteria. For the period beginning May 19, 2024, dysphagia requiring dilatation no more than two times per year warranted a 30 percent rating under the new criteria.
