The Board has determined that the veteran's claimed low back disorder, bilateral knee disorder, and glaucoma are not service-connected as they were not present during his period of active military service or for many years thereafter.
The veteran's claim for service connection for glaucoma was granted, effective July 22, 2002. The effective date is set at the date of receipt of his original claim on November 14, 2001.
The Board has determined that the veteran's glaucoma was not incurred in or aggravated by active military service and is not proximately due to or the result of his service-connected diabetes mellitus type II.
The veteran's claims for service connection for glaucoma and a back disorder are being remanded to the RO for additional development of his records, including VA treatment records, Social Security Administration records, and Reserve service records. The RO will also provide the veteran with an opportunity to submit evidence and be afforded examinations to determine if any current conditions are related to his military service.
