Fibromyalgia decisions — 2019

The Board has decided to remand the Veteran's claims for fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and a headache disorder due to the need for additional development of evidence.

The Veteran's claim for service connection for muscle/joint pain (fibromyalgia) has been granted. The claims for bilateral hearing loss, chronic fatigue syndrome, sleep apnea, cardiovascular disorder, respiratory disorder (allergic rhinitis), and neurological disorder (dizziness) are denied.

The Veteran's claims for service connection for gout and an initial compensable rating for left testalgia have been dismissed. The Board has also remanded the Veteran's claims for service connection for fibromyalgia and migraine headaches.

The Board denied service connection for joint pain and fibromyalgia, finding that the Veteran did not have a qualifying chronic disability as defined by 38 U.S.C. § 1117.

Service connection for a heart condition is denied.,Service connection for hypertension is denied.,Service connection for a psychiatric condition, to include PTSD, is denied.,Service connection for fibromyalgia is granted.

The Veteran's claim for service connection for fibromyalgia with irritable bowel syndrome was granted, effective November 30, 2014.

The Board denied service connection for bilateral hearing loss, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches with photophobia and aura, back disability, Raynaud’s disease, right lower extremity neuropathy or restless leg syndrome, left lower extremity neuropathy or restless leg syndrome, thyroid disability, and abnormal weight fluctuation.,The Board also remanded the Veteran's claims for service connection for a right hip disability, left hip disability, right knee disability, sleep disability, and skin disability.

The Veteran's claims for fibromyalgia, asthma, GERD, prostate disability, skin disabilities, and a mass removed from the back are all denied as there is no evidence of these conditions during service or within one year of separation. The Board found that the Veteran did not have any of these conditions due to herbicide exposure in Vietnam.

The Veteran's claims for service connection are remanded due to incomplete service treatment records and the need for further medical opinion regarding his exposure to hazardous waste chemicals.

The Board has remanded several issues related to the Veteran's back, neck, and extremity disabilities. The claims for fibromyalgia, cervical strain, spondylolisthesis of the lumbar spine with scoliosis, radiculopathy of the lower extremities, shoulder disabilities, and hip disabilities are all being reviewed due to incomplete medical records from her service at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. The Board denied service connection for various conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, achilles tendonitis, left shoulder disability, right shoulder disability, low back disability, pes planus, bilateral hearing loss, sleep apnea, edema of the lower extremities, residuals of a head injury, migraine headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica of the left leg, and psychiatric disorder manifested by a head injury, all related to Reserve service. The Board found that there was no evidence of disease or injury incurred in or aggravated during ACDUTRA or INACDUTRA.

The claims for service connection for fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, and a respiratory disorder are granted.,Service connection is also granted for major depressive disorder as secondary to PTSD.

The Veteran's claims for service connection for fibromyalgia and sleep apnea are granted. The claim for muscle & joint pain & bone mass loss is remanded due to inconsistent findings in the VA examination.
