Hearing loss decisions — 2022

The Board denied service connection for bilateral hearing loss and granted a 10 percent rating for the scar on the right thumb status-post laceration prior to November 12, 2019. The Board also granted a 70 percent rating for PTSD with alcohol use disorder from August 22, 2016.

The Veteran's claims for service connection for bilateral hearing loss and tinnitus have been remanded due to insufficient opinions in the previous VA examinations. The Board found that new evidence supports reopening of these claims, but further examination is needed to determine if there is a nexus between current hearing loss or tinnitus and service.

The Board remands the matter for a new VA examination to determine the current severity of the Veteran's hearing loss.
