Hemorrhoids decisions — 2020

The Veteran's claims for service connection were granted, and effective dates of March 7, 2000 were assigned. The appeals related to right knee DJD, hypertension, IBS with GERD, hemorrhoids, and status post fracture of the proximal ribs. Service connection was denied for prostatitis and/or residuals of such, collapsed lung and/or residuals of a collapsed lung, and dental disability.

The Board denied all claims for service connection and increased ratings due to lack of current diagnoses or insufficient new and material evidence. The Veteran's sleep apnea claim was denied as there is no evidence of a current diagnosis.

The Board has denied service connection for chronic hemorrhoids and remanded the issues of service connection for left knee disability and a compensable initial rating for scar, residual of left knee surgery.

The Board has granted service connection for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and remanded other issues due to lack of VA examination records.

The Board has remanded the Veteran's claims of service connection for GIST, gastric ulcer, hemorrhoids, diarrhea, and a painful surgical scar due to potential secondary effects from his service-connected right knee disability.

The Board has determined that further development is needed to evaluate the Veteran's skin rash, hypertension, and hemorrhoids disabilities due to potential worsening of symptoms.

The Veteran's claim for a temporary total disability (TTD) rating due to convalescence resulting from service-connected hemorrhoids was denied as the evidence did not show that he required one month of convalescence following his surgeries.

The Veteran's appeals for service connection on all issues except left upper extremity neurological disability and left elbow scar have been withdrawn. The remaining issues are being remanded for further examination and evaluation.
