Parkinson's disease decisions — 2024

The Board has determined that there was a duty to assist error and the case must be remanded for further development.

The Board has remanded the cases for further development regarding the Veteran's service connection claims for hypertension and Parkinson's disease, as they are presumed to be related to exposure to herbicides. The AOJ needs to determine which ship the Veteran was aboard on his return trip home from Okinawa to California between October 7, 1962, and October 28, 1962, and whether that ship transited Guam or its territorial waters.

The Board has remanded the claims for neurological disorder, bilateral lower extremity neuropathy, heart condition, and acquired psychiatric disorder due to duty-to-assist errors. The Veteran's service connection claims are being remanded for further development including VA examinations.
