PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) Board decisions

The Veteran's acquired psychiatric disorder, including post-traumatic stress disorder and schizoaffective disorder, depressive type; chronic sinus and allergy disability; obstructive sleep apnea (OSA); gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD); pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB); right foot and left foot disabilities; right knee and left knee disabilities; and cervical spine disability have been granted service connection.

The Board has remanded the case for further development, including verifying an in-service stressor related to a power plant blast and scheduling a VA examination to determine the nature and etiology of any acquired psychiatric disability. The Veteran's claim will be reconsidered based on this additional evidence.

The Veteran's claim for an earlier effective date for TDIU is denied as the earliest possible effective date is May 31, 2013 due to the lack of service-connected disabilities prior to that date.

The Board has determined that the VA examination opinions are inadequate and remands the case for further development, including obtaining an addendum opinion regarding the nature and etiology of the Veteran's diagnosed posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and whether any PTSD is related to a verified in-service stressor.

The Veteran's claims for increased ratings of TBI and PTSD, as well as his claim for TDIU, were denied. The Board found that the evidence did not support a higher rating for either condition.

The Veteran's psychiatric disability, including PTSD, and bilateral foot disability (excluding pes planus) are granted as service-connected. The cases of back disability and radiculopathy are remanded for further review.

The Veteran's PTSD is currently rated at 50 percent and the Board has remanded both his increased rating claim for PTSD and his TDIU claim due to lack of a recent VA examination.

The Veteran's bilateral hearing loss is rated as noncompensable since October 25, 2017.,VA granted service connection for CAD due to presumed herbicide exposure in March 2012.,VA granted a TDIU effective October 25, 2017 based on the Veteran's service-connected disabilities.,VA denied a TDIU application from April 2010 to October 25, 2017.

The Board has received a request from the Veteran to withdraw all appeals regarding his PTSD, sleep apnea, irritable bowel syndrome, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. As a result, the appeals are dismissed.

The Board has granted service connection for PTSD. The cases of left hip disability and hypertension are remanded due to the need for additional medical opinions.

The Veteran's claims for PTSD, peripheral neuropathy of the right lower extremity, and peripheral neuropathy of the left lower extremity are being remanded due to insufficient evidence in previous examinations.

The Board has determined that new and material evidence has been received to reopen the claims for service connection for a neck disability and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The Veteran's PTSD is related to an in-service stressor. Service connection for PTSD due to military sexual trauma (MST) is granted. However, the claim for service connection for a neck disability remains pending as it has been remanded for further examination.

The Board has granted service connection for PTSD, finding that the Veteran's symptoms are related to his in-service stressors and resolving reasonable doubt in favor of the Veteran.

The Board has determined that the Veteran's psychiatric disability, including PTSD and depression, is due to an in-service injury (vehicle accident) and grants service connection for this condition.

The Board has remanded the case due to insufficient rationale in previous opinions and the need for a new opinion addressing whether the Veteran's service-connected disabilities caused or aggravated his depressive disorder.

The Veteran's anxiety disorder not otherwise specified (PTSD) is rated at 70 percent from April 18, 2011. The Board also granted entitlement to TDIU prior to August 1, 2019 and remanded the rating for back strain/sprain residuals.

The Veteran's claim for service connection for obstructive sleep apnea has been granted, with the condition being considered secondary to migraine headaches.,The Veteran's claim for service connection for PTSD has been reopened and is currently pending due to new evidence that raises the possibility of substantiating the claim.

The Veteran's representative withdrew the appeal for an increased rating of PTSD, resulting in its dismissal.

The Veteran's tinnitus and PTSD are granted service connection. The initial 100% rating for PTSD prior to August 10, 2016 is granted. Other conditions (TBI, migraine headaches, and hearing loss) are remanded for further review.

The Veteran's claim for higher ratings for PTSD is being remanded due to the need for additional development and consideration of his case.
