Sarcoidosis decisions — 2004

The Board has reopened the veteran's claims of service connection for sarcoidosis, right medial collateral ligament strain, and prostate disorder. The appeal is remanded to obtain additional VA treatment records and determine whether new stressors occurred during service.

The Board has granted service connection for post-operative left spermatocele residuals and remanded the issues of initial evaluations for sarcoidosis, pseudofolliculitis barbae, dermatofibromas of the legs, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

The Board denied the veteran's claim for an earlier effective date for service connection due to sarcoidosis with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, finding that the earliest possible effective date is April 15, 1999.

The veteran's claims for increased ratings and service connection for various conditions related to his active service were denied. The Board found that the veteran did not have any of these conditions during or within one year after his military service.

The Board granted the veteran's claim for service connection for sarcoidosis and awarded a 100% evaluation for hypertension. The other issues were either withdrawn or dismissed.

The Board has ordered further development due to pending issues regarding the veteran's claim for service connection of sarcoidosis. The case is now being sent back to the RO for additional evidence and a VA examination.
