Sarcoidosis decisions — 2015

The Board has denied the Veteran's claims of service connection for sarcoidosis and a bilateral eye disorder, finding that there is no clear and unmistakable evidence to rebut the presumption of soundness upon entry into service. The Board also found that there is insufficient medical evidence linking these conditions to his military service.

The Veteran's claim for service connection for sarcoidosis is being remanded due to inadequate reasons or bases in the previous decision, and a new VA opinion is needed to assess whether the condition may be due to medically unexplained chronic multisymptom illnesses.

The Veteran's sarcoidosis was rated at 60 percent from August 12, 1992 to June 3, 1996.

The Veteran's service-connected sarcoidosis became disabling enough to warrant a TDIU effective August 12, 1992.

The Board has remanded the case for further development, including obtaining medical opinions regarding the Veteran's visual acuity and an eye examination. The claim will be adjudicated again based on the new evidence.

The Board has granted service connection for sarcoidosis and found that the Veteran's sarcoidosis is at least as likely as not related to his in-service exposure. The remaining issues have been remanded for further action.

The case is REMANDED to the AOJ for further development, including providing the Veteran VA examinations and obtaining relevant treatment records.
